Old Quarter
Upon your arrival at Cai La Port, you'll be picked up for a pleasant drive to Hanoi with a stop en-route mid way, passing by villages and countryside that will give you as much a taste of Vietnam as the bustle of city life.
The first attraction of the day is the Temple of Literature, which was the first university in Vietnam. During 1076 to 1779, almost 2400 doctors graduated. In 1484 Emperior Le Thanh Tong started the tradition of printing the names of the laureates of the university on stone steles, which were placed on top of stone turtles. Your lunch will be in a Vietnamese restaurant in a restored colonial villa in the city centre.
After lunch, you will drive to visit Vietnam Museum of Ethnology which features a fascinating collection of art and everyday objects gathered from Vietnam's diverse tribal people. Thence enjoy a gentle walk at the Lake of Restored Sword, visit the Ngoc Son Temple, followed by an hour cyclo ride through Hanoi's Old Quarter, visit one of the tube houses, the long and narrow style homes in this neighborhood.
