What to expect: Bai Tu Long is located just east of Halong Bay. The area is largely untouched by tourists, far away from the famous Cat Ba Island, which houses beaches, the caves of Halong Bay and lodging. There are two ecosystems with abundant biodiversity. One area has a wet, tropical rainforest ecosystem and the other ecosystem supports marine life. Bai Tu Long bay is very similar to the seascape of Halong Bay but the karsts in Halong are somewhat taller, making the scenery a bit more dramatic but the off the beaten track route does compensate. The caves are less visited and the beaches are also quieter. You will also have chance to stay closer to local fishermen and enjoy a rowing boat ride around their floating village. There are dozens of boats on this route only so it's the best route for anyone who seeks for off the beaten track experiences. The boats will anchor at a quiet place for overnight stay. Some boat combines Bai Tu Long area and the core zone of World Heritage area which include visit to famous cave of Sung Sot (Surprise Cave).
